Reading this, I wonder if someone like DeSantis would be able to successfully watch Trump's back this assumed time around. He might be short and possess an odd accent (Floridian?) but he does seem very tenacious, clear-sighted, energetic, and effective in things political and administrative.
Hi Larry, personally I believe DeSantis was an establishment plant meant to serve as a "safe option" for populists to vote for if they could take out Trump. His positioning on COVID lockdowns, publicly battling Disney on woke stuff and in cleaning up voter fraud in Miami-Dade county were good ones to take even though they were more symbolic than real if one dug into the details, and the solidly Republican state legislature deserves much of the credit for them. Unfortunately for the establishment he did not have enough charisma and he received bad advice about how to position himself in the primaries to take advantage of the populist vote (you can see someone like Vivek who I also don't find trustworthy with a much greater understanding of and ability to position for that vote).
There is also the straight fact that a lot of people are in love with Trump; which is understandable if you ask me, but maybe it isn't to the Deciders or, at least, to the "overclass".
Trump is likable for sure, well he certainly was in 2015/2016, but we know what/who he is now, let him retire and take care of his Jewish grandchildren, seriously fuck him if he wins it will be the confirmation that the (((deep state))) really knows he's on their side.

The Shield TV show is extremely entertaining and very not politically correct (mostly, it's not dissident or anything but it couldn't be produced nowadays, like absolutely not).
Also, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, it's a Japanese OAV series from the 80's (yes anime, I don't know if you like them or not but it has no comparison from any anime I know, so even if you hate them be sure it's completely different, also anime weren't fucking gay back then, quite the contrary even the mainstream ones).
It has some elements who could be considered "dissident" and is just fucking entertaining as hell, never seen anything in a cartoon or animated fashion resembling that series, it's really really good (if you haven't watched it already I'm sure you have at least seen the meme coming from this show by right-wingers/reactionaries)

One could point to Trump's consistent support for the COVID vaccine or ask why Truth Social, a social media company that no one uses, is worth billions of dollars on the stock market (much of which goes into Trump's pocket), as points in favor of this argument. Personally, I believe that Trump was not controlled through the 2016 election based upon the establishment's vicious, unprecedented and sustained blanketed media smear campaign against him, but that pressure was brought to bear on him so that he did become skin-suited at some point.
