This is why I garden. This is why I go on a hike every day, alone, singing. This is why I go to the wilderness alone for days to a week at a time. This is why I study the Western magical tradition. This is why I am learning the guitar. Make haste, slowly. Seek transcendence, then do the laundry. I find myself meditating more and more.

2030 is the goal for the UN and WEF with their Great Reset, total trans-formation of the West. That is also about the time oil constraints are really going to assert themselves, fracking being mostly played out by then. I suspect more likely the great reset will be the collapse of globalism and much of what we understand as modernity, to a more analog life for a lot more people. Ironically, that will be much healthier for people and the earth, but looking at it from this side for most people it looks horrific, and a lot of people are not likely to survive it.

I've been anticipating this as long as I can remember. It becomes more clear by the day.

It sounds like you are taking a lot of positive steps, William. If we cannot change the course of material reality (and that isn't to say we shouldn't try, as we do writing our Substacks or otherwise), then the logical direction is to focus inwardly on ourselves, to ascend spiritually...

Have you written about your study of the Western magical tradition? I'm glad you are learning guitar; I've started learning piano a couple of months ago...

I heard recently, the best way to learn the guitar, is to learn the piano, lol. I am probably going to try that the other way around. Glad to hear you are playing.

On my header is a connection to my spiritual alchemy posts. I did some tarot readings the first few months, I have written about Manly P Hall a bit. Otherwise I have been thinking more about doing regular posts about whatever it is I'm studying, cabala at the moment, and a book on spiritual training I just read, from MPH.. I am going to start a semi-regular discursive meditation post, using traditional symbology and the tarot. There is only so much "material reality" writing I can do, it is getting so un-reality out there....Thank you for asking.

As for changing material reality, there is changing consciousness in accordance with will, which is about changing your material reality, intentionally. Art can change other peoples consciousness. Magic at it's core is about creativity. Enough people change consciousness in a particular direction, society will follow.

Great response, I look forward to reading your discursive meditation posts. I'm reading a book on the tarot now (The Fool's Pilgrimage by Stephan Hoeller).

If Spengler is right, we are entering the second religiosity, which is to say, it is only going to get increasingly chaotic, and people are going to return to religion as a firm foundation. Mostly they are going to be looking for meaning, so I have been turning increasingly to the WMT, as there is always in crisis a return to folk magic.

That is a great book title, I will have to read it. Tarot is like a map of the self.

Sorokin would agree with Spengler on a return to religiosity:

(It could potentially take on a medieval form).

Medieval in terms of feudal, in the long term, possibly. Though I think Spengler's suggestion is, the second religiosity is shallow, as it is a return to established religions that have lost all their magic. It is mostly a firm structure but no really fulfilling in the way that it was earlier in the life of the religion. It is the basis for the birth of a new religion and a new civilization. But that is a very long process.

yes, the date of 2030 keeps appearing and isn’t a coincidence.

we can all feel, regardless of ideology, a grand shift taking place. I believe by 2030, this shift will be fully apparent and manifest. I can’t say exactly how or what it will look like, but it’s real. the practices U mention are vital during this transition. they are the preservation of the fire we will need on the other side of all this.

I meant to say too I can build a house. There is going to be a lot of cleanup and rebuilding about then, I expect. Could be a good time :)

I really like this post. It reminds me of Rudolf Steiner and his ideas of Ahriman, the Zoroastrian destructive evil spirit / thought / mind, which is one pole of Steiner's two extreme forces of evil that draws the soul into denser and lower forms of matter.

"According to Rudolf Steiner, mainstream science is Ahrimanic."

I remember reading something where he described the manifestation of Ahriman as a mechanical and technological being. He's got some interesting visuals regarding these concepts, and technology as you described it seems to fit his themes.

Thanks Theodore. There is so much to study, a world of it, as the door of this inner spiritual study is unlocking (or at least, it feels like it is unlocking for me). The study of politics and culture can be gateways to this higher level if one is searching for it... Have you written about Steiner/Ahriman?

Expand full comment

No I haven't actually. I've read quite a bit about him and listened to a few audiobooks. His ideas are fascinating and eerie. Apparently he was briefly involved with the Theosophical society until he was expelled in 1913 (odd date), also around the time of the New Thought movement, which is all strangely around the lead up to the world wars.

His writing is a little "dense" and challenging to read sometimes, but stimulates the imagination. If I get a chance I'd like to read through his article "Goethe's Secret Revelation."

We may very well be approaching a cataclysm or the end of a cycle. Nihilism and empty consumption have certainly infected every corner of society. Whether these things come to pass in our time or not, a relationship with the transcendent is something we all need to try to develop and preserve.

Great essay and thanks for mentioning my post as well.

Good day to you Neo-Feudal Review and thank you for this article, specifically on the subject of the Yuga Cycles.

An interesting factor is that the Vedic Yugas consist of fractals within fractals. A Yuga contains a Sub-yuga and there is a Sub-sub-yuga within the Sub-yuga. I have visualised this in graphs I have created for the purpose, based on the work by David Frawley at the American Institute of Vedic Studies who have revealed the existence of the fractals within. You can see the graphs and my analysis of the real-world impacts and implications of the cycle-fractals here:

https://energyshifts.net/the-lights-along-the-way

On the subject of acceleration-ism, thank you for these insights by Rene Guenon, I have to look into his work closer, but it rhymes with the metaphysics of a cycle winding down and its energy petering out at its end resulting in collapse on various levels (which is happening as we speak). That's then followed by a revival and rejuvenation as the new cycle starts.

These interpretations are also in line with the same type of phenomenon described by Pitirim A. Sorokin in 'The Crisis of Our Age':

https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.275906/mode/2up

According to his analysis (dated forward to our time contextually) we are currently at the very end of the Sensate/Material Age (Kali Yuga equivalent) . Everything collapses upon itself from corruption, greed, lack of spirituality, extreme materialism, etc at the end of such an age.

It rots from within at an accelerated pace. The Sensate/Material age then gives way (after much turmoil) to a Spiritual Age. It's inevitable.

Sorokin lists numerous instances in history where these transitions have happened. By my estimation the process will take anything from 20 to 50 years in our present transition. Big upheavals are to come especially in the 2030's, but the rest of this decade is bound to be very volatile as the final stages of collapse are unfolding. This can be mapped in the Yuga and Maya cycles too (2027 to 2032 are KEY years), as I have done in the article that I listed above.

Best regards,

J.J. Montagnier

Thanks for this comment, J.J., and for the links. It was interesting reading about the Sub- and Subsubyugas and our current place within it -- I especially liked your placement of the current moment as a time of extreme, nihilistic materialism but with the hope for a new spiritual rebirth. Your highlighting of our expected future industrial output based on declining fossil fuel availability is very important, and something that I've also discussed. Your references to Jung are also quite interesting, as he is on my list to read more of soon...

Thank you for your feedback, N.F. and for reading the link I posted. I appreciate your work with regards to these subjects as well as we seem to have an interest in overlapping aspects of the transition the world is presently going through. Ultimately we are all bringing pieces of the puzzle to the table to put together a new framework of understanding that will take us into the New Cycle. It's an ongoing process of indirect collaboration.

Great essay! I have been thinking of some similar things, but from a Judeo-Christian perspective. The Prophet Daniel interprets the vision that Kind Nebuchadnezzar has in Daniel Chapter 2, the vision of the statue made of various materials. I was shocked to read what you wrote of Guenon, and how similarly the Hindu Conception of ages aligns.

31 “Your Majesty, you had a vision. You saw a large statue. This statue was very bright. It stood in front of you, and it looked terrifying. 32 The head of this statue was made of fine gold. Its chest and arms were made of silver. Its stomach and hips were made of bronze. 33 Its legs were made of iron. Its feet were made partly of iron and partly of clay. 34 While you were watching, a stone was cut out, but not by humans. It struck the statue’s iron-and-clay feet and smashed them. 35 Then all at once, the iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold were smashed. They became like husks on a threshing floor [a] in summer. The wind carried them away, and not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the statue became a large mountain which filled the whole world. 36 This is the dream. Now we’ll tell you its meaning.”

It is my personal conviction that Daniel, Guenon and the Hindus were correct. We are in the Iron Age, or more specifically the age of Iron and clay. We retain some of the strength of those who came before us, but we have been weakened, as with clay.

I always enjoy your work, keep up the fire!

I suspect this is also why Nietzsche went off the deep end. But there is also the reality that we can't walk alone and if we can't convince people to walk with us voluntarily, we are flailing around in empty space. No matter how amazing the ideas, If you can't get people on board, they are pointless. His formulation of a 'superman,' wasn't a good idea in any case, and I think he just couldn't think of anything better.

But then he was limited to Christianity. I think we need to start with there's something out there greater than ourselves that wishes the best for us. Being aspirational matters.

Rene Guenon remains to this day a well respected voice in the field of religion. I believe it was his observation that religion protects as long as its foundations remain hidden, a valuable understanding indeed. However, I can't help but note that his examination of God never allowed God to escape the grasp of his thought. Further, initiation has never been the purview of organized religion, it has always, when genuine, occurred through the meeting with the numinous. Religion was, at best, merely a nod from the greater society, an exoteric recognition of an event already established. We don't observe such ceremonies in the western world due to the undeniable fact that abrahamism evinces a far too jealous demeanor to recognize the numinous outside of its own rather limited scope.

In terms of his depiction of the Hindu ages, Guenon did correctly convey current dogma, yet there is more than a little evidence that earlier thought saw the ages as essentially similar in duration, but reflecting eachother in both ascending and descending order.

Savitri Devi is demonized to this day for actually bringing to her readers a glimpse of the mystical nature that underpinned National Socialism, and the prophetic nature of the phenomenon of Adolf Hitler. However, few in this modern world are capable of understanding her efforts. The term Nazi, for example, is a derogatory slur popularized by the enemies of National Socialism, enemies who themselves exhibit no understanding of the role played by the Runes, for example.

Devi worked with a fundamental theory of National Socialism that has very real archaeological and textual support.

I will conclude this comment by pointing out that modern technology exists primarily to enshrine extant institutions, and cement in the existence of the renter class. It operates on a philosophy that is desperately anti-life, obsessed with coercive power, and immensely energy dependant. As such, it cannot be anything other than a polarizing alienating force.

Finally, thank you for this provocative piece.

"Or as Junger wrote in the quote above, “if someone somehow still preserves this relationship to transcendence, he is “ultimately” safe from fear."

Today the Gospel was John8:51-59.

A verse of it read:

"If one obeys my word, he will never meet death" (my onw, certainly rough-around-the-edges, translation from Italian).

Yes, technology not only causes time to speed up but also accelerates the genetic devolution of the human race. According to Dr. Eugene McCarthy, an American geneticist and one of the world's leading authorities on hybridization in animals, the human species began as the hybrid offspring of a male pig and a female chimpanzee.

The more I contemplate it, the more I agree with McCarthy. As hybrids with high-end technology at our disposal, the human body will eventually become obsolete and useless. In my opinion, the next era will not result in a return to a less technological world; in fact, my prediction is that humans will cease to exist in the material world, and reality will be 100% virtual.

Not only do I think that we are hybrids, but I also subscribe to the idea that "gods" were involved in the hybridization process. The creators needed us for a specific reason which has now expired. That's why we have religions all around the world referring to them with slight variations.

I don't trust traditional or modern religions because, as stated above, they only refer to these "creators" who made us and used us (and still do to an extent). These religions hide the truth about our true origins.

I hold a particular opinion about any type of gods, believing that there could not be a benevolent god or gods. Any entity possessing higher intelligence than us is not going to act solely in our favor. It's a dynamic similar to that between us and the domesticated animals we eat. We look after them for a while, providing shelter and food, but only until we have to slaughter them for food. We might even develop attachments, but we always prioritize ourselves first.

Finally, the rapid acceleration of technology is most probably aided by the same "gods" who help us develop in a certain direction. They simply use "messengers," which we like to call "inventors", to teach us about certain technology. Tesla was one such messenger, and religion calls them "fallen angels".

In conclusion, these are the true final days of the human race as we know it. This place we call Earth is most likely a kind of prison planet, and personally, the thought of our final days is rather liberating to me. Every creature down here exists to eat and destroy other creatures, so I am not particularly fond of this place. No, I am not a vegan - quite the opposite, actually and look after animals for food.

Once we transfer our consciousness with technology into the virtual space, the creators of the human hybrid are most likely to pull the plug, and we will completely evaporate into nothingness - as both physical bodies and consciousness.

The gods are not our friends; the so-called spirituality is an illusion. The best approach in my mind to ease the ride through the final days is to prioritize health and wellness as people will become increasing irrational due to their declining health and thus mental well being.

Great read!

I can't help but feel the materialist-quantification vs. transcendental problem is actually one of THE issues of our time. Sometimes I feel it is just a discordance between the idealist and pragmatist. But then I read something like this and I can see it it front and center for many others.
